Lessons Learned

1. Verticals Work on 160m
Even a modest vertical can dramatically outperform compromise antennas on Topband.

2. Bandwidth Matters
Combining antennas using tuned 75-Ohm coax can narrow bandwidth more than expected.

3. Stagger Tuning Helps
Tuning antennas slightly apart can widen the usable SWR range.

4. Experimentation Pays Off
The final configuration using equal 50-ohm feedlines and a transformer produced the best overall results.

5. Low-Profile Installations Are Possible
Fence-post mounting and trees helped keep the antennas nearly invisible.
